Orthodox believers and the Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates the day of St. Petka, the protector of women, the sick and the poor. On the occasion of the Patron Saint of "Sveta Petka Paraskeva," president of Palilula, Boban Džunić congratulated believers, clergy, citizens, and wished to be many years for this occasion for all in health, happiness, peace and joy.

Palilula Municipality, in order to help its citizens to live well and healthy, created a number of activities in the field of health and social protection of the population. In particular vulnerable and marginalized population groups are taken unde consideration. To support families who care for sick children, their treatment and rehabilitation, humanitarian fund "Let's help our children." was established.

With the` Health Center` in Nis in Palilula Municipality we regularly organize health checks of the inhabitants in the countryside, at home, and "Health Bazaar" in urban areas.
The meaning of St. Petka has been cultivated for centuries in Southeast Europe, it is also respected by some non-Christian peoples of the East. The faithful people turn to her for a prayer for help and deliverance from disease and other life troubles. In addition to the temples of St. Petka often are springs of healing water that people take, believing that they will heal the wounds and protect them from disease
